Some users may feel that the stress level displayed by GoBe doesn’t match their emotional state, for example, showing high stress even when they feel calm. Let us explain how the algorithm works and what might affect the results.
How GoBe measures stress
GoBe estimates your stress level based on two primary factors:
Heart rate
The quality and duration of your previous night’s sleep
This means that stress, in GoBe’s terminology, is not purely emotional stress. It reflects how much strain your body is under, which can be influenced by:
Poor or insufficient sleep the night before
Physical exertion or elevated heart rate
Overall recovery level
Examples
If you slept poorly or had fragmented sleep, your stress level the next day may appear higher, even if you feel okay emotionally.
If you recently exercised, and your heart rate remains elevated for a while afterward, GoBe may interpret that as physical stress.
What you can do
Aim for consistent, quality sleep to improve recovery signals.
If you've recently exercised, give your body time to rest before interpreting stress readings.
Use stress level readings as an indicator of physiological load, rather than purely emotional stress.
We hope this clears things up! If you still feel the readings are off, feel free to reach out with details, and we’ll be happy to take a closer look.
