GoBe tracks your sleep and awake states automatically based on multiple physiological signals. If you notice that the moment of waking up is not detected correctly, or the device continues to show you as asleep after you’ve woken up, the issue may be related to how GoBe interprets your arm movement and heart rate.
How the awake state is recognized
GoBe determines that you are awake when it detects a shift in your body’s state, particularly:
An increase in heart rate
Noticeable movement of your arm (measured via accelerometer)
Additional context, such as changes in hydration and other internal metrics
If your arm remains still for a while after waking up (for example, if you're lying in bed checking your phone or simply waking up slowly), GoBe may delay recognizing your awake state.
What you can do
To help GoBe detect your awakening:
As soon as you wake up, move your arm actively for 10–15 seconds
Avoid keeping your arm still for extended periods while lying in bed
Make sure the band fits snugly so the sensors can work correctly
These movements serve as a signal to the device that you’ve transitioned from sleep to wakefulness.
If you continue to experience issues with the recognition of awake time, please feel free to reach out to us with the date and time when it happened - we’ll be happy to investigate further.
