If your GoBe shows a low hydration level despite regular fluid intake, don’t worry - this doesn’t necessarily mean you’re dehydrated. GoBe measures hydration differently than just tracking how much you drink.
GoBe Measures Water Retention - Not Just Water Intake
GoBe doesn’t track how much liquid you consume. Instead, it uses a bioimpedance sensor and HEALBE FLOW Technology to measure how much water your body actually retains.
Hydration readings are based on water absorbed and present in your body tissues - not in your stomach or digestive tract.
Why You Might See Low Hydration Even After Drinking
There are several reasons why your hydration level might appear low, even if you drink a lot of fluids:
1. Water absorption takes time
When you drink water:
It stays in your stomach for about 10 minutes
Then it moves to the intestines, where it is absorbed - mostly in the large intestine
If you drink with food or right after meals, absorption slows down
On an empty stomach, water is absorbed in about 20 minutes
2. Hydration varies based on what and how you drink
Water-rich foods, like fruit and soup, also count toward hydration
Sugary drinks and alcohol can reduce your hydration level
Isotonic and mineral waters are absorbed faster and more efficiently
Drinking large amounts at once is less effective than sipping gradually
3. Personal physiology matters
Everyone’s body absorbs water differently. Your hydration level may be influenced by:
your metabolism
medications (e.g., diuretics lower hydration, antidiuretics raise it)
physical activity
environmental factors (heat, humidity, etc.)
4. The device needs time to learn your baseline
When you start using GoBe, it takes 2 to 14 days of consistent wear to establish your personal “normal” hydration level. If you recently started using the device or haven’t been wearing it regularly, readings may appear inconsistent.
You can reset the device to help it recalibrate:
Open the HEALBE app
Ensure your GoBe is connected
Tap the device icon to access settings
Select “Service Information”
Tap “Reset”
Note: Resetting clears all current data, so we recommend doing it early in the morning to minimize data loss.
5. Wearing conditions affect accuracy
For best results:
Wear the band 22–23 hours per day, removing it only to charge
Make sure the sensors have good skin contact
Dry the sensors and your wrist after showering, swimming, or sweating
Clean the band regularly, following care guidelines
Optional: Customize Your Drink Reminder
You can help GoBe better match your hydration habits by adjusting your default drink volume:
On Android: go to your profile and change the "Glass Volume"
On iOS: go to My GoBe → Vibration Signals and adjust the drink reminder frequency
Summary - Why Hydration May Seem Low Despite Drinking
GoBe tracks water retention, not just intake
Absorption depends on food, timing, and drink type
Medications and physiology can influence results
Learning period lasts 2–14 days
Wearing habits impact sensor accuracy
If you’re consistently drinking throughout the day, there’s no cause for concern. GoBe is designed to help you stay ahead of dehydration, not to signal danger.
