If you notice that your calorie intake, energy burn, or energy balance values change throughout the day in the GoBe app, this is completely normal. Here is why it happens and how the algorithm works.
GoBe Uses a Multi-Stage Data Processing System
GoBe tracks calorie intake based on when nutrients are absorbed into your bloodstream, not simply when you eat food. However, the digestive system is complex, and many physiological processes in the body are interconnected.
For example, digestive hormones can simultaneously affect hunger levels, gastrointestinal motility, nutrient absorption, and other body processes. The algorithm first records the body’s primary response, but then requires additional time to filter out effects caused by related hormonal reactions and refine the data distribution over time.
In addition, digestion itself is not instantaneous. Depending on the type of food consumed, some digestive processes may continue for up to 72 hours, especially after heavy or difficult-to-digest meals.
Why the Numbers Change
As GoBe continues collecting and analyzing data, the algorithm refines the estimated energy absorption intervals. Because of this:
- values for previous hours may slightly change;
- calorie intake may shift across the timeline;
- energy balance and graphs may update;
- the final picture becomes more accurate over time.
This does not indicate a bug or measurement error. These changes reflect the real timing of digestive processes and the additional filtering required to improve accuracy.
Why Finalization Takes Time
After collecting data, the algorithm needs additional time to:
- verify and analyze events;
- filter out inaccurate or overlapping physiological responses;
- refine calorie absorption timing;
- finalize energy balance calculations.
The system uses an additional verification period of up to 12 hours. Because of this, daily calorie data is considered fully finalized only after 12 PM the following day.
Syncing Your Band Is Important
To make sure your app displays the most accurate and updated information, we recommend syncing your GoBe band 1–2 times per day. This allows finalized data to transfer from the device to the app.
Summary
- GoBe analyzes calorie intake based on nutrient absorption into the bloodstream;
- digestion and hormonal responses take time;
- the algorithm continuously refines and verifies data;
- values may change during the day as new data becomes available;
- final daily results appear after 12 PM the next day;
- this is a normal part of how the algorithm improves accuracy.
