GoBe U estimates calorie burn individually based on your body’s response and physical activity. Because of this, your results may differ from values shown by other fitness trackers, apps, or general calorie-burn estimates.
How Does GoBe U Estimate Calorie Burn?
GoBe U takes into account:
- Your heart rate
- Your personal data, including weight, height, and age
- The type and duration of physical activity throughout the day
This means calorie burn is not estimated based on movement alone. Your body can expend additional energy during activities that involve relatively little arm movement.
Why Can Calorie Burn Seem Too High or Too Low?
Several factors can affect the calculation.
Heart rate data
Heart rate plays an important role in estimating physical activity intensity. The calculation takes into account not only your peak heart rate, but also how your heart rate changes during activity, as well as the duration and intensity of the activity.
For example, a short activity with a high peak heart rate and a longer activity with an elevated average heart rate may result in different calorie-burn estimates.
Elevated heart rate unrelated to physical activity
Your heart rate can increase for reasons other than physical activity. For example, stress and other individual physiological factors can affect your heart rate and, in some cases, influence the calorie-burn estimate.
Band fit and skin contact
For reliable heart rate measurements, GoBe U needs stable contact with your skin. If the band is too loose, moves around on your wrist, or periodically loses skin contact, the quality of the data may be affected.
Individual response to physical activity
The same physical activity can produce different cardiovascular responses in different people.
For example, a trained person may have a smaller increase in heart rate during the same activity than someone who is less physically fit. As a result, calorie-burn estimates can differ even when the duration of the activity is similar.
How Can I Improve Calorie Burn Accuracy?
- Wear your GoBe U regularly - ideally 22-23 hours per day, removing it mainly for charging.
- Position the band approximately two fingers above your wrist bone.
- Adjust the strap so that the sensor maintains stable contact with your skin. The band should not move freely around your wrist or feel uncomfortably tight.
If your calorie burn regularly appears significantly higher or lower than expected despite wearing your GoBe U correctly, please contact HEALBE Customer Care. We’ll be happy to review your data and help determine the possible cause.
