If your GoBe U smart band shows the message “Sensor doesn’t fit”, along with a white light and short vibrations, this means the device is losing contact with your skin. This article explains why this may happen and how you can fix it.
If you’ve just started wearing the band, please make sure that:
1 - The band is turned on. You can check this by pressing the side button once — a light indicator showing the battery level (green, yellow, or red) should appear.
2 - The thin protective film covering the device sensor has been removed. Sometimes this film can be hard to notice or easy to forget. If it remains on, the sensor won’t be able to read data from your body.
If you’ve been wearing the band for a while but the contact is sometimes lost, please follow the recommendations below to improve it.
Check the Band Fit
To ensure proper contact between the sensor and your skin:
Wear the band snugly — the sensor should be in firm contact with your skin, but not too tight.
A good rule of thumb:Your thumb should not fit under the strap.
Your pinky should fit with slight effort.
Correct position: Wear the band one to two finger widths above your wrist bone.
External Factors That Can Affect Sensor Contact
Sensor performance may be affected by:
Tattoos
Scars or moles
Excessive body hair
Very dry skin
If the sensor touches a tattoo or dense hair, try switching the device to your other wrist.
Clean the Sensor Regularly
Dirty sensors can lead to signal loss. We recommend cleaning the sensor 1–2 times per week:
Use a mild detergent (e.g., liquid soap or dish soap with surfactants).
Apply a small amount to a cotton swab and gently clean the sensor.
Rinse with water and dry with a soft cloth.
Improve Skin Condition
If contact is lost even while resting, try slightly moistening the skin under the sensor and wear the band for a few hours.
If contact is lost during movement, and the strap is already tight, the band shape may not suit your wrist (especially if it's narrow).
In this case, we recommend sending photos of your wrist with the band (top and side views) to our support team for review.
Try the Inner Wrist
By default, GoBe U is worn on the outer side of the wrist. But if the contact issue persists, you can try wearing it on the inner side.
Please note: Pulse tracking may be less accurate in this position due to tendon activity, but some users report better sensor stability this way.
If you’ve tried all the above tips and the message still appears, feel free to contact our support team. We’re here to help!
