GoBe automatically calculates calories burned based on a combination of heart rate, pulse data, activity level, and your anthropometric data (such as age, weight, height, and gender). This allows for a more personalized and accurate estimate of energy expenditure throughout the day.
Key factors used in calorie burn calculation:
Heart rate and pulse
The heart rate sensor helps determine energy expenditure, especially during activities with minimal movement, such as weight training or push-ups.
However, if the heart rate increases due to reasons unrelated to physical activity (for example, stress or medical conditions), the accuracy of calorie burn estimates may decrease.
Activity recognition
Physical activity is identified through the accelerometer, which tracks arm movement.
GoBe recognizes and differentiates the following activity types:
Walking
Running
Sitting
All other activities are classified as routine (including workouts where hand movement is limited, such as treadmill, cycling, elliptical, or some weight training exercises).
Personal body metrics
Your weight, age, height, and other physical data provided in your profile are taken into account in energy burn calculations.
Important notes on accuracy
For optimal results, we recommend the following:
Wear the device 22–23 hours a day, removing it only for charging.
Adjust the strap properly: it should be snug enough to ensure constant contact with the skin, but not too tight to cause discomfort.
Position the device correctly: wear GoBe two fingers above the wrist bone.
If your hands are not actively moving, for example, while using a treadmill or holding handlebars during exercise, the accuracy of the motion sensor may be reduced, which can affect calorie tracking.
Sports mode
At this time, GoBe does not yet support recognition of specific sports beyond walking and running. All other activities are grouped under general movement types, and we continue working on expanding support for other sports modes in future updates.
