You may sometimes see Energy Intake in the HEALBE app even when you haven’t eaten recently. This does not necessarily mean that GoBe3 has incorrectly detected a meal.
GoBe3 does not identify the food you eat or count calories directly from meals. FLOW Technology analyzes physiological changes associated with energy being absorbed and used by your body.
Where Does the Energy Come From?
When you are not eating, your body continues to use energy and can draw on its internal energy reserves, including stored glycogen and fat.
GoBe3 does not distinguish whether the detected energy comes directly from recently eaten food or from internal energy reserves. This is why Energy Intake may still appear during:
- fasting or long periods between meals;
- intermittent fasting;
- low-carbohydrate or ketogenic diets;
- periods of increased physical activity.
In addition, digestion and nutrient absorption can continue for several hours after a meal. This means that some Energy Intake shown later in the day or at night may be associated with food eaten earlier.
How Should I Evaluate My Data?
Rather than comparing individual Energy Intake readings with specific meals, we recommend looking at your overall Energy Balance and longer-term trends.
You can review these in the Trends section of the Energy Balance tab in the HEALBE app.
Remember that calorie intake calculations require time to be processed and finalized, so we recommend evaluating a day’s final data after noon on the following day.
