GSR (Galvanic Skin Response) is the change in the electrical resistance of your skin in response to psycho-emotional reactions. In simple terms, when you feel stress, anxiety, or tension, the level of moisture in your skin changes — and this affects its electrical conductance.
Have you ever noticed your palms sweating in a stressful moment? That’s GSR in action. This technology has long been used in psychophysiology — for example, in lie detectors. Now it’s also used in smart wearables like the HEALBE GoBe wristband to help you track your nervous system activity and emotional stress level.
How Does GoBe Measure GSR?
The GoBe wristband includes a special GSR sensor that measures skin resistance 10 times per second. These measurements are analyzed by HEALBE’s proprietary algorithms, which interpret the data and provide you with a real-time evaluation of your current state.
GoBe doesn't just detect stress — it also tracks the trend in autonomic nervous system activity, helping you:
Avoid overexertion
Recognize early signs of nervous system overload
Understand how your body reacts to different events throughout the day
Improve your productivity and recovery
Where to View GSR Data
GSR-based nervous system data is available in the “Neuroactivity” section of the HEALBE app:
Current State — shows your nervous system’s current condition
Trend — tracks whether nervous system activity is rising or falling
ANS Activity Chart — visualizes how your body reacts to daily events
Maximum Tension — identifies the time of day with the highest overload
Sleep — displays how your nervous system recovers during rest
States — classifies your day into one of four categories:
Calmness — relaxed, slower reactions
Efficacy — optimal, focused, and productive state
Tension — functional but resource-consuming
Overload — intense overactivation, quickly leading to fatigue
Why Is This Important?
Your productivity, concentration, and well-being are directly tied to the state of your nervous system. GSR technology makes the invisible visible — giving you a real-time tool for better awareness, emotional balance, and performance.
