GoBe tracks your hydration level using a bioimpedance sensor and proprietary HEALBE FLOW Technology. Unlike traditional hydration tracking methods that only account for fluid intake, GoBe measures how much water your body actually retains.
How Hydration Tracking Works
When you start using your GoBe, the device begins to learn your individual hydration baseline. This process may take anywhere from two days to two weeks of continuous wear. Once your normal hydration level is established, GoBe compares it to your current state to assess hydration.
The measurement is not based on how much water you drink, but rather on how efficiently your body absorbs and retains water. For example:
After drinking a glass of water, it stays in the stomach for about 10 minutes, then moves through the intestines where most absorption happens.
If you drink water on an empty stomach, absorption takes around 20 minutes.
If you've eaten recently, absorption takes longer.
GoBe takes into account metabolism, physical activity, and your unique profile data to provide accurate hydration monitoring.
What Affects Hydration Measurements?
Several factors influence how your body retains water:
Medications: Diuretics lower your hydration level, while antidiuretics increase it.
Timing and method of intake: Slowly sipping water during activity leads to better absorption than drinking large amounts at once.
Type of drink: Mineral water and isotonic drinks hydrate efficiently; sugary sodas and alcohol can dehydrate you.
Because everyone absorbs fluids differently, GoBe continuously adapts to your individual hydration patterns.
Hydration Reminders
When GoBe detects a drop in hydration, it will vibrate and send a “DRINK” message into the app. These alerts are preventative and personalized, sent well before dehydration becomes a health concern.
There’s no need to worry if your hydration level appears reduced, as long as you are consistently consuming fluids throughout the day.
Tips for Best Accuracy
To ensure optimal hydration tracking:
Wear GoBe continuously (removing it only for charging).
Ensure the sensors are in constant contact with your skin.
Clean the device regularly according to care instructions.
After showering, sweating, or swimming, dry the sensors and your wrist to prevent water interference.
Each time you put GoBe back on, it may take 30 minutes to 2 hours to update your hydration level. Inconsistent contact can delay measurement.
Important Notes
If you reset GoBe, update the firmware, or turn the device back on after 9 PM, hydration data might not appear in the app or dashboard until the next morning (6–8 AM).
