GoBe tracks your sleep using a smart algorithm that analyzes your motion, wake periods, and other physiological indicators. The data is processed directly on the device and sent to the HEALBE app, providing detailed insights into your rest quality and sleep behavior.
What GoBe Measures
The GoBe sleep tracking algorithm evaluates the following metrics:
Sleep duration (total time spent asleep during a 24-hour period)
Wake-up duration
Number of wake-ups
REM-phases
Sleep quality
Personalized sleep recommendations
All calculations are based on the time your GoBe was worn and are grouped by each calendar day (00:00 to 23:59).
Does GoBe U detect deep sleep?
At the moment, the band detects two main types of sleep:
• REM sleep (rapid eye movement, or “fast” sleep)
• Non-REM sleep (slow-wave sleep), which includes falling asleep, light sleep, and deep sleep, but we do not separate these stages individually.
This is because these phases are primarily distinguished using electroencephalography (EEG) — a method that measures brain activity. GoBe does not use EEG and does not track eye movement, so it is not currently possible to identify deep sleep precisely. However, we are continuously working on improving the algorithm.
Sleep Detection and Timing
The device recognizes a sleep period when it detects minimal motion over time. Here's how it processes the timing:
Sleep start time is shown with a possible margin of 5 minutes. The device must detect a motionless state before marking the beginning of sleep.
Sleep end time can be delayed by up to 2–5 minutes, especially if you are actively moving upon waking.
Wake periods during sleep are counted only if they last less than or equal to one hour. These affect your sleep quality rating.
If you sleep less than 30 minutes, GoBe may not register it unless you are completely still. Sleep data is processed offline on the device and may take some time to appear in the app.
Sleep Quality Score
The sleep quality percentage reflects how restorative your sleep was. It is calculated using:
Your actual sleep duration
The number and length of wake-ups
Your personal sleep goals and general health guidelines
The quality levels are grouped as follows:
91–100% – Optimal sleep
76–90% – Long sleep
61–75% – Short sleep
46–60% – Possible lack of sleep
0–45% – Very short sleep
This score can improve if you accumulate more sleep time throughout the day.
Sleep Recommendations
GoBe provides daily recovery recommendations based on:
Your last 6 days of sleep data
Time spent in a very high-stress state
Activity level during the current day
These insights are designed to help you balance your activity, stress, and rest more effectively.
Summary
GoBe’s sleep tracking is designed to reflect not just how long you sleep, but how well you recover. By combining motion analysis, sleep timing, and wake periods, it delivers a holistic view of your sleep patterns and offers actionable insights for better rest and overall well-being.
If you notice a delay in your sleep report or updates in quality metrics, this is normal due to the way data is processed on the device.
