Energy Balance Trends are a tool that helps understand how the ratio between calories burned and calories absorbed changes over several days. Unlike daily metrics, Trends show the overall dynamics and filter out random fluctuations, allowing for more accurate tracking of progress and behavior adjustments.
What are Trends?
A Trend is the direction of change in Energy Balance over 3–7 days. It shows whether your energy balance is increasing, decreasing, or staying stable.
This is especially useful if you don't track data every day or encounter occasional deviations (for example, during holidays). The Trend reflects the overall picture and shows if something needs to be adjusted.
How do Trends work?
To calculate Trends, HEALBE analyzes:
Changes in your weight
Changes in Energy Balance (the ratio of absorbed and burned calories)
For the function to work, you need to:
Wear the GoBe bracelet for at least 16 hours per day
Weigh yourself at least 2–3 times a week
These are the minimum conditions to ensure the analysis is meaningful and the trends are reliable.
What do Trends display?
Trends can indicate one of the following scenarios:
Energy balance is stable: The calories you consume and burn are roughly equal. This is optimal for maintaining your current weight.
Energy balance is decreasing: Calorie expenditure exceeds intake. If your goal is weight loss, this is a good sign.
Energy balance is increasing: Calorie intake exceeds expenditure. This trend may lead to weight gain.
Energy balance is decreasing rapidly: A significant reduction in calories or excessive exercise. It's recommended to avoid a deficit greater than 700–1000 kcal per day to prevent stress on the body.
Energy balance is increasing rapidly: A sharp surplus of calories, not compensated by activity. This may lead to fat accumulation.
Energy balance is decreasing slowly: Healthy and gradual reduction — a safe path to weight loss.
Energy balance is increasing slowly: Likely a signal that physical activity is insufficient. It's worth reviewing your diet or increasing movement.
How to use Trends?
Check your Trends every 3–4 days. This is enough to notice the dynamics without getting distracted by short-term fluctuations.
If you want to lose weight, make sure the trend gradually decreases.
If you want to gain muscle mass, the trend should increase slowly.
If you want to maintain your shape, the goal is a stable trend with no significant increase or decrease.
Tips for better results
Assess Trends in the context of other factors such as sleep, stress levels, and physical activity.
Avoid aiming for sharp changes. Smooth dynamics are safer and more sustainable.
Use Trends as a guideline. They help adjust your routine without relying on random values.
Energy Balance Trends are a reliable guide that helps you act mindfully and avoid extremes. Use them to achieve your goals — whether it's weight loss, muscle gain, or maintaining shape — without stress or overload.
