Your steps and distance are measured by the accelerometer and based on arm movement. GoBe3 is most accurate at recognizing walking/ jogging/running.
If your hands are not active while you walk or exercise then the accuracy of distance detection may decrease.
This is true, for example, when you are shopping with your hands on a shopping a cart; when your hands are in your pockets; when you are carrying a bag, doing a treadmill, cycle, elliptical, or many weight training workouts.
GoBe3’s step counter is most accurate when you are taking long walks for at least 10 minutes in duration with your hands moving freely.
Our team is working on improving GoBe3’s algorithm to improve accuracy during different types of movement. We plan to add support for different sports in a future GoBe release.
One thing you can do on your end to improve accuracy is to measure your actual step length and add it to your profile in the Healbe app. By default, it is determined automatically by GoBe based on the height you entered in your profile and your activity level as detected by GoBe. Entering the exact value of your step length into the app may further increase accuracy.
To enter your step length, please find the instructions below:
- Take a few steps, recommended at least 20.
- Measure the distance you walked.
- Divide the total distance in feet by the number of steps you took in order to get your step length.
- Open your Healbe app -> Profile screen and enter the measured value into the Step Length field.
