GoBe3 measures your steps and distance using its accelerometer and analyzing your arm movements. Step detection is most accurate during walking, jogging, and running when your arms are moving naturally.
If your arm movement is limited while you walk or exercise, some steps may not be detected correctly.
This can happen, for example, when:
- your hands are in your pockets;
- you are holding a shopping cart or stroller;
- you are carrying a bag or another object;
- you are walking on a treadmill while holding the handrails;
- you are using an elliptical or other exercise equipment;
- you are doing weight training or other exercises where your arm movements differ from normal walking or running.
GoBe3 provides the most accurate step count during continuous walks of at least 10 minutes when your arms can move freely and naturally.
How Can I Improve Distance Accuracy?
GoBe3 estimates your step length automatically based on the height entered in your profile and your activity data. If the distance shown in the HEALBE app seems inaccurate, you can measure your actual step length and enter it manually.
To measure your step length:
- Walk at least 20 steps at your normal pace.
- Measure the total distance you walked.
- Divide the total distance by the number of steps.
- Enter the calculated value in the HEALBE app under Settings → My Body → Step Length.
Entering your actual step length can help improve the accuracy of the distance calculated by GoBe3.
If your step count is consistently significantly different from your actual steps during normal walking or running, please contact our Customer Care at gobe@healbe.com.
