The accuracy of HEALBE’s calorie intake measurement technology has been validated in studies conducted at UC Davis (USA) and Guangzhou Red Cross Hospital (China).
The studies showed accuracy of up to 89%* compared with reference measurements when GoBe is worn throughout the day - approximately 22-23 hours per day - including during meals.
*Accuracy is calculated as 100% minus the percentage error.
What Can Affect GoBe3 Accuracy?
The accuracy of your GoBe3 measurements can vary depending on how the band is worn, your physiological state, diet, and other factors.
Profile information
Make sure the personal information in your HEALBE profile is accurate. In particular, update your weight in the app whenever it changes.
Sensor contact
For accurate measurements, the sensors should maintain consistent contact with your skin.
Creams and oils applied under the sensors may interfere with measurements. Scars, tattoos, or substantial hair growth in the area under the sensors may also reduce accuracy.
Physiological state
Significant changes from your usual physiological state may affect GoBe3 measurements. These can include:
- sleep deprivation;
- jet lag;
- high emotional stress;
- acute illness or elevated body temperature.
Diet and fasting
GoBe3 algorithms are designed for use with a regular, balanced diet. Fasting and significant dietary restrictions, including ketogenic diets, may affect measurement accuracy.
Sports nutrition
Some types of sports nutrition, such as protein supplements and isolates, may not be fully reflected in GoBe3’s nutrient data. Their energy contribution may still be reflected in the overall calorie intake estimate.
Alcohol
GoBe3 may detect calories from carbohydrates contained in alcoholic beverages, such as sugars in beer, wine, juice, soda, or flavored drinks. However, calories from alcohol itself are not measured.
As a result, your actual calorie intake after consuming alcoholic beverages may be higher than the value shown by GoBe3.
Medical conditions and medications
Medical conditions or medications that significantly affect water and electrolyte balance, cardiovascular function, kidney function, or metabolic processes may reduce the accuracy of GoBe3 measurements.
Environmental conditions
Extreme environmental conditions may also affect measurement accuracy, including:
- very cold or tropical climates;
- unusually high or low humidity;
- significant changes in atmospheric pressure, such as at high altitude.
How to Get the Most Accurate Results
For the best possible measurement accuracy:
- wear GoBe3 approximately 22-23 hours per day, including during meals;
- make sure the sensors maintain consistent contact with your skin;
- keep your profile information and weight up to date;
- avoid applying creams or oils underneath the sensors.
Remember that individual accuracy may vary depending on physiological, dietary, environmental, and other factors.
