While Healbe advertises that GoBe is not optimized for fasting or ketotic diets, I have used GoBe2 on a fasting diet for months and seen accurate results and my weight and waist circumference go down.
I have been on a fasting diet for the last 10 years, eating during a 6-8 hour window each day.
Recently, I stepped up my dieting efforts by decreasing the size of my eating window. By this I mean that I stopped eating earlier in the day, at say, 4-6pm instead of 7-8pm. In this way, I found I was able to eat less and starting losing weight again (for whatever reason, I find it easier to fast in the evening than during the day).
Sure enough, my GoBe2 began reporting a ~500 calorie deficit, an amount that I was comfortable with (though difficult) and is the medically recommended amount to cut calories each day.
The weight loss correctly corresponded to about a pound a week (500 calories times 7 days equals 3500 calories, the amount of extra calories one must burn to lose a pound of fat).
I think it's possible the GoBe was off by 10-20%, but if I had a 500 calorie deficit this means it was only off by 50-100 calories. I can still lose weight eating 400 fewer calories per day, and if I stop losing weight, I can eat just a little bit less to try to obtain the weight loss.
Thanks GoBe for giving me an indication I was on the right track. Weight loss has never been easier! :)
