In a healthy person, ketone bodies are released into the bloodstream during fasting or for other reasons such as: significant physical activity during lengthy breaks from eating, intoxication from alcohol, and ketogenic diets. Because we often don’t eat at night, our body fat stores are sometimes released during sleep to provide energy for other physiological processes. These fluctuations in the level of free fatty acids in your blood are displayed by your GoBe as nighttime "peaks" in your energy intake.
The algorithms that we have developed for GoBe are very sensitive. GoBe records not only physiological processes related to digestion of food but also bodily processes occurring during fasting and physical activity. While developing GoBe’s algorithms, we took steps to isolate only the portion of your body’s processes associated with food intake, but apparently the problem remains. At this moment, we are preparing updates for more accurate identification of nighttime energy peaks and fasted peaks from the background of the rest of your body’s physiological processes.
