Your steps and distance are measured by the accelerometer and based on arm movement. Keep in mind, GoBe2 is most accurate at recognizing walking/ jogging/running.
If your hands are not active while you walk or exercise the accuracy of the distance calculation may decrease.
This is true when you are shopping with a cart for example, or when your hands are in your pockets, you are carrying a bag, doing a treadmill, cycle, elliptical, or with some weight training workouts.
GoBe2's step counter is the most accurate when you are taking long walks for at least 10 minutes in duration with hands moving freely.
One thing you can do to improve accuracy is to measure your actual step length with a tape measure or ruler and add it to your profile in the Healbe app. By default, step length is determined automatically based on your height and activity. But measuring and inputting the exact value to the app may increase accuracy.
How to Measure Your Step Length
- Take a few steps, at least 20.
- Measure the distance you traveled.
- Divide the total distance (in feet) taken by the number of steps to get your step length.
- Open your Healbe app ⇒ your Profile screen and enter the measured value into the Step Length field.
